The incident occurred in the second inning of the Phillies' 7-4 victory when Nick Castellanos , the Philadelphia Phillies right fielder, hit the ball back towards Feltner. Despite attempting to evade the incoming ball, Feltner was hit on the back of his head. Although he fell to the ground immediately, he did not lose consciousness.
