Radiohead Breaks O2 Attendance Record

Photo: Radiohead / Instagram   Radiohead has broken Metallica’s attendance record at London’s O2 Arena. The band played four sold-out shows on November 21, 22, 24, and 25, each drawing at least 22,200 fans. The final night reached 22,355 attendees, the most ever at the venue. Photo: Radiohead / Instagram O2 senior programming director Christian D’Acuna said the shows will go down in the arena’s history. Each night, Radiohead played different setlists, including rare songs like “Like Spinning Plates.” The shows are part of their first tour in seven years, which started earlier this month in Madrid. Next month, they will finish the tour with four dates in Copenhagen and four in Berlin. The band has not announced any 2026 tour dates or plans to return to North America. Kirk Hammett’s Guitar Sells For $76,800

Photo: Kirk Hammett / Instagram   A rare guitar played by METALLICA’s Kirk Hammett at BLACK SABBATH’s “Back To The Beginning” concert in Birmingham sold for $76,800 at auction.  The custom Gibson CEO4 guitar, signed by Hammett, was expected to sell for only $6,000.  Hammett used the guitar to play BLACK SABBATH’s “Hole In The Sky” during the show.  Photo: Kirk Hammett / Instagram The instrument features a mahogany neck, ebony fretboard, flame maple top, and a custom DES guitar strap with strap locks.  The sale included a hard case and a backstage pass signed by Gibson CEO Cesar Gueikian.  The guitar was part of Julien’s Auctions’ “Played, Worn & Torn” event, which offered over 800 music-related items.  Hammett said he hopes collectors will play the guitars rather than let them sit unused.  Besides METALLICA, Hammett is a founding member of EXODUS and has released solo music, including his 2022 instrumental EP, “Portals.” Read Next: Nikki Sixx...

Two METALLICA Fans Arrested After Climbing Tower During Perth Concert

Photo: James Hetfield / Instagram   Two METALLICA fans were arrested after climbing a tower inside Optus Stadium during the band’s concert in Perth, Australia, on November 1.  Police said the 20-year-old from Carey Park and 23-year-old from Australind were charged with trespassing after the stunt.  Videos from 10 News showed the shirtless men being told by police to come down before they were arrested and taken out of the venue.  Photo: James Hetfield / Instagram A police spokesperson said it will be alleged the men climbed the central tower during the show.  Over 60,000 fans attended the concert, marking METALLICA’s first show in Australia in more than 10 years.  The band’s Australian tour continues in Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney before heading to Auckland, New Zealand.  METALLICA’s last visit to Australia was for the Soundwave Festival in 2013.  The shows are part of the band’s “M72” world tour, named after their 2023 album 72 Sea...

Kirk Hammett Says His Horror Collection Makes Him Feel Like A Protector of Movie History

Photo: Kirk Hammett / Instagram Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett talked about his love for horror movie memorabilia in episode 117 of The Metallica Report  podcast.  A lifelong horror fan, Hammett shared his three favorite pieces — Boris Karloff’s outfit from The Black Cat  (1933), the axe used by Jack Nicholson in The Shining , and Bela Lugosi’s Dracula cape from Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein .  He said he was shocked to find the Karloff costume still intact after 80 years and even tried it on at home.  Photo: Kirk Hammett / Instagram He also owns many props from the original Frankenstein  lab, which he has worked hard to bring back together.  Hammett said each piece inspires him musically and makes him feel like a “protector and curator” of horror history.  He believes these items are important parts of world culture and should be shared with fans.  Hammett has shown parts of his collection at events like “Kirk’s Crypt” and in his ...
