IOC President Thomas Bach said it is up to these federations to ensure their athletes compete at the Los Angeles 2028 Games by supporting a new global boxing body. Boxing has been part of almost every Olympics since 1904, except in 1912. However, it has not yet been included in the LA 2028 program. This decision comes after the IOC removed recognition from the International Boxing Association (IBA) in 2023 due to issues with governance and finances. Bach said a new global body, called World Boxing, could replace the IBA. Founded in 2023, World Boxing already has 55 members from across the globe. Lin, who won a gold medal at the Paris Olympics, was set to compete in the World Boxing Cup Finals in Sheffield. This event, organized by World Boxing, was her first international appearance since her victory in Paris. However, World Boxing raised concerns about her eligibility. Khelif, 25, has been in the spotlight because of a gender eligibility debate at the Paris Olympics. Despite the noise, she won a unanimous decision against China’s Liu Yang to secure the gold . Photo: Lin Yu-ting (Instagram) Taiwanese Olympic boxer Lin Yu-ting defeated Turkish fighter Esra Yildiz Kahraman on Wednesday night in the 57-kilogram division at the Paris Olympics.  Lin won by unanimous decision, moving on to the gold medal fight. Yildiz earned a bronze medal, as there are no bronze-medal bouts in Olympic boxing. Yildiz was aggressive during the fight but did not do enough to win over the judges. Lin landed more punches, which the judges noticed. This gesture comes amid a gender controversy surrounding Lin.
