This win allowed him to retain his WBA lightweight world title and marked his 28th knockout in 30 professional fights. Davis' knockout ratio now stands at 93.3%, the second-best among active world champions, just behind Artur Beterbiev's 100%. Davis' victory also brought another milestone: he has now surpassed his former mentor, Floyd Mayweather , in career knockout wins. Mayweather, who retired with a perfect 50-0 record, had 27 knockouts. His last knockout came against Conor McGregor in 2017. Mayweather was known for his strong punching power in the lighter weight classes but relied more on defense and counterpunching as he moved up in weight.
