Khris Middleton Suffers Left Knee Injury in Bucks' Defeat

Milwaukee Bucks star Khris Middleton suffered a hyperextended left knee late in the third quarter of Milwaukee's 117-103 loss to the Celtics at TD Garden and did not return, but early signs suggest he will not be sidelined for a long time.

During the third quarter, Middleton collided with teammate Rodney Hood as the two pursued a defensive rebound, and his leg buckled awkwardly. After he winced and remained on the ground for a moment, Middleton rose to his feet and limped to the other end of the court for Milwaukee's subsequent offensive possession.

After the game, however, the Bucks committed a foul, and Middleton walked straight to the locker room. The Bucks were optimistic Middleton's injury wouldn't be a long-term one.

Middleton is averaging 17.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.9 assists this season after winning an NBA championship with the Bucks last season, as well as a gold medal with Team USA in the Tokyo Olympics this past summer.

Milwaukee (18-11) ran away with the game in the first quarter, taking a 30-21 lead over the Celtics, who were playing their first game back after a 1-4 road trip. But the game completely turned at that point, with Boston (14-14) limiting Milwaukee to under 40% shooting.

The Bucks lost the game in the second quarter when, rather than extending their nine-point lead after one, they committed seven of their 14 turnovers -- which led to Boston's 30 points in the period. This gave the Celtics momentum heading into halftime, which they carried into the second half.

Milwaukee heads home waiting to see how long it may be without Middleton after losing to 13-2 this season when he, Holiday and Antetokounmpo are all in the same game.

The Bucks have received positive injury news as well, as guard Donte DiVincenzo could begin playing against the Pacers as soon as Wednesday. He has been out since suffering an injury during Milwaukee's first-round series with the Miami Heat last year.

He explained he chose the move out of respect for Gaethje’s parents, who were watching. “I didn’t want to break his arm in front of his parents,” Khabib said. “So I put him to sleep instead.
