Patrick Beverley Seeks Advice From LeBron James On Playing For Hometown Team

Patrick Beverley recently signed with his hometown team, the Chicago Bulls, after being bought out by the Orlando Magic.

As someone new to playing for his hometown squad, Beverley reached out to his former teammate and "big brother" LeBron James for advice.

James had played for his own hometown team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and advised Beverley to prioritize basketball and let everything else come after that.

Beverley is aware that James faced immense pressure and expectations while playing for the Cavs, but the expectations for Beverley are not as high.

James was considered a savior for the city and franchise when he was drafted as the number one overall pick in 2003, with the hope that he would bring a championship to Cleveland.

James initially failed to deliver on that hope, leaving for the Miami Heat in 2010 before returning and winning a championship in 2016.

In contrast, Beverley is still seeking his first NBA title and there is no expectation that he will bring one to Chicago anytime soon.

Nonetheless, Beverley's seeking out James for guidance shows that he is taking his role with the Bulls seriously.

Beverley played his first game with the Bulls, recording eight points, five boards, and four assists in a 44-point win over the Brooklyn Nets.

However, the Bulls still have a long way to go to reach the postseason as they are currently the No. 11 seed in the Eastern Conference, 1.5 games behind the Washington Wizards for the final seed to advance to the play-in tournament.

Meanwhile, James and the Lakers are also struggling to reach the postseason as they sit at the No. 13 seed in the West and are 1.5 games behind the No. 10 seed.

However, the team is on a two-game winning streak and will look to continue that momentum in their upcoming game against the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday.

During the bout, Gaethje landed heavy punches and kicks that Khabib admitted were painful. “He hit like a truck,” Khabib said on Mike Tyson ’s Hotboxin' podcast. “His left hook, right hook, uppercut—they all hurt. But I made him hit me because I knew he didn’t like wrestling. My plan was to tire him out by standing with him, then take him to the ground and finish the fight.” Photo: Khabib Nurmagomedov / Instagram Khabib ended the fight with a triangle choke submission. He explained he chose the move out of respect for Gaethje’s parents, who were watching. “I didn’t want to break his arm in front of his parents,” Khabib said. “So I put him to sleep instead.
