Tommy Fury Hands Jake Paul First Loss In Split-Decision Win In Saudi Arabia

Tommy Fury defeated Jake Paul in a split-decision win in their eight-round bout at Diriyah Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, handing Paul his first loss in his boxing career.

Despite being knocked down in the final round, Fury had a slight edge throughout most of the fight and threw almost double the amount of punches compared to Paul, landing 88 punches compared to Paul's 49.

Both fighters had a point deducted in the later rounds for landing a punch to the back of the other's head.

In response to his loss, Paul claimed he didn't agree with the judges' decision, and cited being sick twice in camp and injuring his arm as factors that affected his performance, but he also admitted that it wasn't his best performance.

Sunday's fight was Paul's biggest to date, having previously only taken on MMA fighters, another YouTuber, and a former NBA player in the ring.

Fury, the half-brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, had an 8-0 record with four knockouts prior to Sunday's fight, but his opponents had a combined 24-176-5 overall record, which isn't impressive.

One of Paul's criticisms is that he hadn't fought a real boxer, and while Fury is the closest Paul has come to that, it's still not as great as they had hyped it up to be in the lead-up to the fight.

Despite the win, Fury is willing to give Paul a rematch if he wants one.
