Former Cowboys' RB Ezekiel Elliott Considering Philadelphia Eagles In Free Agency Pursuit

Ezekiel Elliott, the former running back for the Dallas Cowboys, is exploring free agency and has reportedly listed the Philadelphia Eagles among his final three options.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Elliott is looking to join a team that can compete for a Super Bowl championship. If he does choose to join the Eagles, he would be facing off against his former team twice a year.

The 27-year-old Elliott was released by the Cowboys after eight seasons with the team. He was set to count $16.7 million against the salary cap with a $10.9 million non-guaranteed base salary. Schefter also reported that Elliott will be designated a post-June 1 cut.

If Elliott signs with the Eagles, he would be a valuable addition to their already impressive offensive line and could pair well with Jalen Hurts, another talented rusher.

Elliott had a career-low of 876 rushing yards in 2022, but he still managed to score 12 touchdowns and was a top short-yardage running back and pass protector. These skills would fit well with Philadelphia's offensive strategy.

In his 12 career games against the Eagles, Elliott has had 233 carries for 1,107 yards and seven rushing touchdowns.

He finished his career in Dallas with impressive statistics, including 1,881 carries for 8,262 yards and 68 rushing touchdowns, as well as 305 passes for 1,336 yards and 12 touchdowns.

It remains to be seen whether Howie Roseman, the Eagles' general manager, will pursue Elliott and whether Elliott would choose to join the Eagles.
