Francis Ngannou In Talks For Boxing Match Against Deontay Wilder In Africa

Francis Ngannou, the former UFC heavyweight champion, has revealed that talks are underway for him to box Deontay Wilder in Africa.

In a recent interview with ESPN, Ngannou stated that he and Wilder have come to a verbal agreement that they want to fight each other.

The pair are eyeing two fights, one of which could take place in Africa, possibly in August next year, which marks the 50th anniversary of ‘The Rumble in the Jungle.’

Ngannou walked out of the UFC in January, vacating his heavyweight title in the process.

While the promotion set Jon Jones vs. Ciryl Gane for the vacant title, Ngannou has no interest in returning to the UFC for that fight.

Instead, he's already working on his return to the ring, this time as a boxer.

The Bronze Bomber’ Wilder called out Ngannou last month, suggesting they do a two-fight series, one in MMA and one in boxing.

However, Ngannou has indicated that he prefers to focus on boxing, seeing it as a new challenge.

He noted that at the beginning, MMA was just as challenging as boxing, if not bigger, and that he doesn't back down from challenges.

If the fight between Ngannou and Wilder were to happen, it would be a massive event in Africa, according to Ngannou.

He sees it as an opportunity to do something massive and historic, similar to what Muhammad Ali did in ‘The Rumble in the Jungle’ 50 years ago.

While the comments from Jones might be harsh, Ngannou seems unfazed and focused on his upcoming bout with Wilder.

The two fighters have been exchanging messages, and a deal could be reached soon.

Fans are eagerly waiting for the official announcement of the fight and are excited to see Ngannou make his boxing debut against Wilder.
