The New Orleans Pelicans will have to wait a bit longer for Zion Williamson's return, as the star player's injured hamstring will need at least two more weeks to heal, according to a recent reevaluation.
The delay in Williamson's return is concerning for the Pelicans, as they are quickly running out of time in the regular season.
Furthermore, the Pelicans faced another setback when All-Star Brandon Ingram left a game due to a right ankle sprain, adding to the team's already worrisome situation.

While it remains unclear if Ingram will have to miss more time beyond the Dallas Mavericks game, the Pelicans are already struggling with Williamson's absence.
If Williamson returns in exactly two weeks, he will have only ten remaining regular season games to get back into shape for a potential NBA play-in tournament berth.
However, if he misses another week, that number will decrease to only six games, further limiting his time to recover.
The Pelicans are currently tied for 10th place in the Western Conference with a record of 31-34, which means they are only 2.5 games behind the sixth-place Golden State Warriors for a guaranteed playoff spot.
Nonetheless, they cannot afford to slip any further if they want to make it to the postseason.

It has now been three weeks since the last update on Williamson's condition, and it has been eight months since he signed a $193 million contract extension with the Pelicans.
Unfortunately, Williamson's absence has coincided with the Pelicans' poor performance, as they have struggled since he got injured.
Williamson has missed multiple games this season due to various injuries and health and safety protocols.
Before his injury, he was averaging 26.0 points, seven rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game while shooting an impressive 60.8% from the field.
Despite being a human highlight reel, he has only played 114 NBA games in his career so far.
