Jake Paul To Face MMA Star Nate Diaz In Boxing Match On August 5

Jake Paul, fresh off his first boxing defeat to Tommy Fury, has announced that he will be returning to the ring to face MMA star Nate Diaz on August 5.

The bout will take place on DAZN pay-per-view at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

In a press release through his promotion company, MVP, Paul stated that his last defeat was the best thing that could have happened to his professional boxing aspirations.

He believes that the world thinks he is vulnerable, but he is now more focused than ever. Diaz has been with the UFC since 2007 and is currently an MMA free agent after years of success in the promotion.

Diaz and Paul have been trading insults through the media for 18 months, and this fight has been a long time coming.

Diaz is known for his willingness to take on all comers and engage in exciting fights, having had a pair of high-profile bouts with Conor McGregor.

He stopped Tony Ferguson with a guillotine choke in the fourth round of the main event of UFC 279 last September, which was the last bout of his contract with Dana White's promotion.

Diaz is not a novice to boxing, having reportedly been trained by undefeated former light heavyweight champion Andre Ward.

The rivalry between Diaz and Paul extends beyond the ring. Their teams got into a backstage altercation during an October boxing match in Arizona, and Paul has not forgotten about it.

He stated that on August 5th, a "Problem Child" is going to "piece up and knock out the Stockton G," using both his and Diaz's nicknames.

Paul's record as a boxer is 6-1, with his only loss being to Tommy Fury in a split decision in Saudi Arabia in February.

During their cruiserweight bout, Paul knocked down Fury with a short left hand early in the final round, but Tommy Fury controlled long stretches of the eight-round meeting at Diriyah Arena.

Two judges scored the bout 76-73 for Fury, while the third favored Paul, 75-74. Despite his defeat, Paul sees this as a humbling experience and is ready to come back stronger.
