New Houston Rockets Coach Ime Udoka Opens Up About Counseling With Son Following Celtics Workplace Affair

Ime Udoka, the newly-appointed head coach of the Houston Rockets, has disclosed that he went to counseling with his son following his workplace affair at the Boston Celtics which led to the end of his relationship with actress Nia Long.

The Rockets' deal with Udoka is reportedly worth $28.5m over four years. During his unveiling on Wednesday, Udoka revealed that he and his son underwent counseling to help him deal with the situation he had created.

The former Celtics coach had issued an apology statement to those affected by his actions, and he still feels remorseful about it.

Udoka stated that he had spent the last off-season working on himself in various ways to become a better coach and leader.

Rockets owner Tillman Fertitta expressed admiration for Udoka, and stated that he had done his due diligence on him before hiring him.

The Rockets' general manager Rafael Stone praised Udoka's intelligence, drive, and toughness and saw him as the ideal person to lead the team towards championship success.

Udoka had previously led the Celtics to the NBA Finals last season, but he was replaced as head coach by Joe Mazzulla during his suspension from the Eastern Conference team for conduct violations.

An independent investigation revealed that Udoka had used crude language in dialogue with a female subordinate before engaging in an improper workplace relationship.

Udoka has apologized to the Celtics organization, his family, and fans for his actions.

Prior to joining the Celtics, Udoka had won a championship ring as an assistant coach with the San Antonio Spurs.
