The Los Angeles Clippers showed up strong in Game 1 of their opening-round series against the Phoenix Suns, securing a 115-110 victory despite missing Paul George.

Russell Westbrook came through with some late-game heroics, blocking Devin Booker and securing the win for the Clippers.

Durant and the Suns started slow, allowing the Clippers to take an early lead, but a massive 15-0 run by the Suns in the third quarter brought them back into the game.

Ultimately, though, the Clippers prevailed, thanks in part to a dominant performance by Kawhi Leonard, who scored 38 points.

Westbrook almost had a triple-double, finishing with 9 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists, though he struggled with his shooting, going 3 of 19 from the field.

George was unable to play due to a right knee injury and is expected to miss the entire first-round series.

Durant had an impressive game for the Suns, finishing with 27 points, 11 assists, and 9 rebounds. Booker contributed 26 points on 10-of-19 shooting, and Chris Paul added 7 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists.

The Clippers got off to a strong start, holding the Suns to just 18 points in the first quarter and taking a big 16-point lead in the second quarter.

However, the Suns fought back in the third, using their 15-0 run to take a 9-point lead. The Clippers managed to tie things up at the end of the quarter, and the game remained close throughout the fourth.

Leonard took over in the fourth, hitting back-to-back 3-pointers and dishing to Eric Gordon for a third to put the Clippers up by 6.

The Suns made a late push, with a Durant 3-pointer and two free throws from Paul bringing them within a single point with 68 seconds left.

However, Westbrook drew a foul and hit both free throws to put the Clippers up by 3, setting up his game-saving block on Booker. Game 2 of the series is set for Tuesday night in Phoenix.
