Ja Morant, the Memphis Grizzlies guard, has been confirmed as safe following a police welfare check at his residence in Tennessee.
The Shelby County Sheriff's Office spokesperson stated that officers visited Morant after he shared enigmatic messages on his Instagram account, notably a simple "Bye." Morant is reported to be in good condition and has decided to take a break from social media.
Last week, the Grizzlies suspended Morant indefinitely from all team activities after he appeared in a friend's Instagram Live video, seemingly holding a firearm.

In response, Morant issued an apology, acknowledging the disappointment he caused and taking full responsibility for his actions. He expressed his commitment to personal growth and development.
This recent suspension is not the first for the 23-year-old Morant. During the 2022-23 season, he was suspended for eight games by the NBA for "conduct detrimental to the league."
The suspension resulted from an Instagram Live video in which Morant was seen with a gun at a Denver nightclub while on a road trip with the team. Despite these setbacks, Morant's performance on the court has been exceptional.
He recently completed his fourth NBA season, earning a spot in the All-Star game for the second consecutive year. Throughout the season, he averaged 26.2 points, 8.1 assists, 5.9 rebounds, 1.5 three-pointers made, and 1.1 steals per game.
Morant's contributions helped the Grizzlies achieve a 51-31 record, securing the second seed in the Western Conference. In the playoffs, however, the Grizzlies were eliminated in the first round by the seventh-seeded Los Angeles Lakers in a six-game series.
Morant missed one game due to a hand injury but performed admirably, averaging 24.6 points, 7.0 assists, and 6.8 rebounds in the five games he played.
Looking ahead, with Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Desmond Bane under contract for the next season, the Grizzlies are expected to be strong contenders in the West.
While the length of Morant's suspension remains undisclosed, the team will not commence extensive preparations for the upcoming 2023-24 season until training camp begins in September.
