Jaylen Brown's Game 7 Performance Raises Questions About His Future With The Celtics

Jaylen Brown's future with the Boston Celtics has come under scrutiny following his disappointing performance in Game 7 against the Miami Heat.

The Celtics had a chance to make history as the first team to overcome a 3-0 series deficit, but they were handed a resounding 103-84 defeat, leaving the franchise with significant questions about their short-term and long-term prospects.

Brown had a particularly rough outing in Game 7, struggling with his shooting and committing eight turnovers. According to ESPN Stats & Info, he became only the fifth player in the last 45 years to record at least eight turnovers in a Game 7.

His subpar performance has raised concerns about his role on the team moving forward. With one year remaining on his contract, Brown is set to earn nearly $32 million next season.

Additionally, his second-team All-NBA selection makes him eligible for a supermax extension, which poses a significant financial decision for the Celtics. However, Brown chose not to speculate about his future with the team, instead focusing on taking responsibility for the disappointing loss.

Speaking about the game, Brown expressed his disappointment, stating that he expected to win and move forward. He acknowledged the team's failure and his own shortcomings, emphasizing that it is difficult for him to think about anything else at the moment.

Brown believes that discussions about his future with the Celtics will take place when the time is right. Throughout the series, Brown averaged 19 points per game but struggled with turnovers, committing a total of 25 throughout.

His shooting also suffered, as he converted only 16.3% of his three-point attempts, going 7-for-43. These struggles have raised concerns about Brown's ability to perform at a consistently high level in crucial playoff games.

Since being drafted as the third pick in the 2016 NBA draft, Brown has spent his entire professional career with the Celtics. He has achieved two All-Star selections and has been a key contributor to the team's five appearances in the Eastern Conference finals over the past seven years.

However, his recent performance has cast doubt on his future role and potential with the franchise.
