Canadian Open Celebration Takes Unexpected Turn As Golfer Adam Hadwin Tackled By Security In Mistaken Identity

Canadian golfer Adam Hadwin found himself in an unexpected situation during the celebration of Nick Taylor's historic victory at the Canadian Open.

As Taylor sunk a remarkable 72-foot eagle putt to end the 69-year wait for a Canadian golfer to win the tournament, chaos erupted at Toronto's Oakdale Golf and Country Club. The crowd exploded with joy, and Hadwin, caught up in the excitement, sprayed champagne on Taylor and his caddie, Dave Markle.

However, the jubilation was short-lived when a security guard, mistaking Hadwin for a spectator, tackled him to the ground. Fortunately, the misunderstanding was quickly resolved, and Hadwin was helped back to his feet, embracing the security guard.

Tournament Director Bryan Crawford explained that the security guard failed to recognize Hadwin and other Canadian players who rushed onto the green to celebrate with Taylor. Taylor expressed his satisfaction with how the situation was resolved and acknowledged the security guard's efforts amid the commotion.

Hadwin displayed a lighthearted response to the incident, humorously changing his social media profile pictures to highlight the tackle. Taylor, concerned about Hadwin's well-being, jokingly hoped he didn't suffer any injuries from the tackle.

Hadwin's wife, Jessica, reassured everyone of his good health and extended an apology to the security guard on Twitter. The footage of the tackle quickly circulated on social media, with fellow golfers like Justin Thomas and Tyrrell Hatton joining in on the lighthearted banter.

Despite the unexpected incident, the day remained memorable for Taylor, who ended a three-year winless drought with an outstanding performance. The Canadian crowds passionately supported Taylor throughout the tournament, and his final round brilliance propelled him into a playoff against England's Tommy Fleetwood.

The playoff, the first of their PGA Tour careers, was a tense affair, with Taylor and Fleetwood remaining tied after several holes. Eventually, Taylor secured victory on the fourth playoff hole with an incredible uphill putt for eagle.

This triumph made Taylor the first Canadian since 1954 to win the Canadian Open, elevating him to 44th place in the world rankings and earning him a prize of $1.62 million. Overwhelmed by the crowd's support and breaking the tournament's historical curse, Taylor struggled to put his emotions into words.

Hadwin, before commenting on his own experience, congratulated Taylor on his monumental achievement, expressing his pride and admiration.
