In a recent incident at a Las Vegas hotel, pop star Britney Spears was allegedly slapped by a member of the security team accompanying Victor Wembanyama, a rookie player for the San Antonio Spurs.
This incident took place during the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, where Wembanyama was participating. The rookie shared his account of the incident on Thursday.
According to Wembanyama, he was walking with his security team towards a restaurant for dinner when he was instructed not to stop for anyone to prevent a crowd from gathering around him. Reports indicate that Spears was dining at a restaurant in the ARIA Resort and Casino when she noticed the French basketball prodigy.

Wembanyama recalled hearing someone call his name and then feeling a person grab him from behind. However, he adhered to the instructions and continued walking without stopping to see who it was. Upon returning to the hotel, Wembanyama initially did not know the identity of the person who had grabbed him.
However, the security team of the Spurs later informed him that it was Britney Spears. Despite the encounter, Wembanyama never saw her face and simply continued walking straight.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that an incident occurred on Wednesday night and an investigation was initiated. However, the Associated Press reported on Friday that no charges would be filed after surveillance footage revealed that Spears inadvertently hit herself in the face after her hand was pushed off Wembanyama's shoulder.
Spears addressed the incident in a statement, explaining that she had seen Wembanyama earlier in the day and decided to approach him to congratulate him on his success. Due to the loud environment, she tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention.
Spears claimed that his security team then backhanded her in the face without looking back, causing her glasses to fall off. She emphasized that she frequently encounters crowds of fans but her security team has never resorted to violence against them.
Spears' husband, Sam Asghari, who was reportedly dining with her that night, expressed his opposition to violence in any form on his Instagram story. However, he also stated that the blame should not be placed on Wembanyama, referring to the security guard's violent behavior as an isolated incident that should not overshadow the young player's accomplishments.
Wembanyama is scheduled to make his NBA Summer League debut on Friday as the San Antonio Spurs face the Charlotte Hornets at the Thomas & Mack Center.
