Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman, Josh Sills, has been removed from the NFL commissioner’s exempt list after being acquitted of charges of rape and kidnapping.
The team confirmed that Sills will return to their active roster and participate in training camp. The decision came after the NFL received notification of his not guilty verdict.
Sills’ attorney, Michael Connick, expressed that his client is eager to resume his football career and move forward positively. Connick lamented the accusations against Sills and mentioned that they had even cost him a chance to appear in a Super Bowl.

He emphasized Sills' intention to lead an honorable life. The allegations stemmed from an incident involving Sills and a 21-year-old female in Guernsey County, Ohio, back in December 2019.
He was indicted on charges of rape and kidnapping in the first degree. However, the attorney argued that the allegations were baseless from the beginning and vowed to defend Sills vigorously.
The alleged victim claimed that Sills forcibly engaged her in a sexual act and kept her inside a vehicle against her will for a considerable period. These disturbing accusations led the NFL to promptly place Sills on the commissioner’s exempt list, preventing his participation in the 2023 Super Bowl.
Now cleared of the charges and no longer subject to the commissioner’s exempt list, Sills is poised to rejoin the Eagles for the upcoming training camp. Despite having played only one game during his rookie season in 2022, the undrafted free agent from Oklahoma State is hopeful to make an impact as part of the offensive line.
