Former NBA 1st Overall Pick Blake Griffin Remains A Free Agent Despite Proven Versatility

Blake Griffin, a former NBA 1st Overall Pick, finds himself without a team as of September 4, despite his stint with the Boston Celtics last season.

Over the past few years, Griffin has transitioned from a superstar to an impressive role player. During his tenure with the Celtics in the previous season, he managed to appear in 41 games, delivering 4.1 points and 3.8 rebounds per game, with an impressive shooting efficiency of 48.5% from the field and 34.8% from beyond the arc, even making a brief playoff appearance.

Despite his reduced playing time, Griffin demonstrated his reliability both on and off the court, providing veteran leadership for the Celtics. This summer, he entered free agency and, as of September 4, remains unsigned, leaving open the possibility for any NBA team to acquire his services.
Notably, in addition to his time with Boston, Griffin has had stints with the Los Angeles Clippers, Detroit Pistons, and the Brooklyn Nets. His career statistics paint a picture of an accomplished player, with averages of 19.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game, boasting shooting percentages of 49.3% from the field and 32.8% from beyond the arc over 765 regular season games.

Although Griffin has not secured an NBA Championship, his 68 NBA playoff appearances have yielded strong averages of 18.2 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.0 steal per game, showcasing his postseason prowess with shooting percentages of 49.2% from the field and 37.7% from three-point territory.
Shifting focus to the Celtics, they enjoyed a successful season as the second seed in the Eastern Conference, overcoming challenges in the playoffs by defeating the Atlanta Hawks in six games and the Philadelphia 76ers in seven games.

However, their journey was cut short in a heartbreaking Game 7 loss to the Miami Heat in the Conference Finals.
