This arrest followed the issuance of a warrant for his arrest in Illinois. Sergio Brown now faces a first-degree murder charge related to the homicide of his mother. He currently awaits extradition to Illinois to face these serious allegations.

The shocking discovery of Myrtle Brown's body in Maywood, Illinois, occurred on September 16, prompting concerns from family members who had previously reported both Sergio and his mother as missing. In an unexpected turn of events, Sergio Brown had made public appearances on social media discussing his mother's death, vehemently denouncing the reports as "fake news" and suggesting involvement of law enforcement agencies.

Maywood police were actively searching for him during this time, responding to his claims. Even as recently as last week, there were reports of Sergio Brown partying in Mexico, adding to the intrigue surrounding the case.
