In a stunning Game 2 performance, Hiroya Miyagi led the Orix Buffaloes to an 8-0 victory over the Hanshin Tigers, evening the best-of-seven Japan Series at one win apiece.

Miyagi's remarkable outing included six scoreless innings, allowing only four hits and a walk while striking out five. This win comes on the heels of a disappointing 8-0 Game 1 loss for Orix when their ace, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, was overwhelmed by the Tigers.

Miyagi's stellar performance turned the tide, providing a crucial one-run lead early in the game with support from Taishi Hirooka and Masahiro Nishino. Miyagi navigated through a tricky situation in the fourth inning and was rewarded with three more runs in the home half.

"I just wanted to get back at our opponents, and we did that," Miyagi said. "The runs made my job easier."

The series will now move to Hanshin's iconic Koshien Stadium in neighboring Hyogo Prefecture for Games 3, 4, and 5, starting from Tuesday. The clash between these teams from western Japan's Kansai region marks the first Japan Series of its kind since 1964.

Despite the one-sided score in the end, Orix manager Satoshi Nakajima emphasized the importance of not easing up, recognizing that the game could have gone in a different direction in the middle innings.

With Miyagi's stellar performance and strong pitching from the Orix bullpen, the Japan Series is now tied, setting the stage for an exciting continuation of the baseball championship.
