In a stunning display of skill and dominance, Naoya Inoue secured his second undisputed championship in just over a year, knocking out Marlon Tapales in the 10th round at Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan.

Inoue's victory fully unified the WBC, WBA, IBF, and WBO junior featherweight titles, solidifying his status as a pound-for-pound great. Inoue showcased composure in the opening rounds, measuring up Tapales with his jab.

Despite Tapales' defensive efforts, Inoue's right hand began to flow freely, leading to a series of impactful moments. In the fourth round, a left hook and right hand combination sent Tapales to the canvas for an eight count.

Tapales showed resilience, landing shots in the fifth, but Inoue's dominance intensified in the later rounds. In the tenth, a powerful right hand by Inoue forced Tapales to the canvas, sealing the victory.

The defeat ended Tapales' brief WBA/IBF junior featherweight title reign. Naoya Inoue's record now stands at an impressive 26-0 (23KOs), and he has achieved the historic feat of unifying two divisions in the four-belt area in record time.

Notably, Inoue plans to stay at 122 for at least another year, with a likely mandatory title defense against WBC number-one contender Luis Nery on the horizon.

This victory marks Inoue's 19-0 (17KOs) record in primary title fights across four weight divisions, solidifying his legacy as one of the most accomplished boxers in the sport's history. (Source: Boxing Scene)
