After a spectacular performance in a post-game interview, Giannis Antetokounmpo shared his surprise at the decision to fire head coach Adrian Griffin, emphasizing that it caught him off guard.

Despite the unexpected move, the Bucks star voiced his trust in the ownership and front office, expressing confidence in their decision-making.

Antetokounmpo, who delivered a remarkable triple-double against the Cleveland Cavaliers, addressed the media for nearly 20 minutes, assuring his commitment to the team's success.

Despite the team's impressive 30-13 record under Griffin's leadership, concerns arose, particularly regarding defensive strategies, where the Bucks struggled to adapt.

While the Bucks' defensive ranking stood at 21st in the league, allowing 116.8 points per 100 possessions, Antetokounmpo refrained from taking credit for the coaching change. He highlighted his role as a player and reiterated his trust in the management's decision-making process.

Antetokounmpo's previous critiques of Griffin, especially after a loss to the Houston Rockets, were not overlooked. However, he clarified that his comments were aimed at team improvement rather than influencing coaching decisions.

Bucks' General Manager Jon Horst echoed this sentiment, stating in a pre-game press conference that players were not directly involved in the coaching change.

The Bucks' decision to part ways with Griffin, despite their strong record, reflects a commitment to addressing underlying issues for long-term success. Antetokounmpo remains focused on his role as a player, leaving management decisions to those entrusted with such responsibilities. (Source: CBS Sports)
