Slated for the upcoming NBA All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis is a historic clash of shooting prowess, as Golden State Warriors' Stephen Curry goes head-to-head with New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu in a 3-point shootout.

This showdown follows Ionescu's record-breaking performance in the WNBA 3-point contest last July, where she notched an impressive 37 points.

The challenge was initially laid down by Ionescu on social media, and Curry, widely regarded as the greatest shooter in NBA history, eagerly accepted. "I've got something to shoot for now that she went crazy with the 37 points in their All-Star weekend.

We've got to settle that for sure to see who's the best three-point competition shooter," Curry remarked on ESPN. According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, the two sharpshooters will finally meet in a contest that aims to determine the world's best shooter.

The exact format of the event remains uncertain, raising questions about whether Ionescu will compete in the NBA's 3-point contest or if a separate event will be organized. Curry, known for his skill and showmanship, hinted at the event's imminent arrival during a recent pre-game interview.

This matchup injects new excitement into the NBA All-Star Weekend, which has seen adjustments in recent years. With the return to an East vs. West format for the All-Star Game and renewed interest in the dunk contest, the addition of this unique 3-point showdown promises to captivate basketball fans worldwide.

The clash between NBA and WNBA's 3-point champions is set to deliver an unforgettable spectacle, as Curry and Ionescu vie for the ultimate shooting trophy. (Source: CBS Sports)

He explained he chose the move out of respect for Gaethje’s parents, who were watching. “I didn’t want to break his arm in front of his parents,” Khabib said. “So I put him to sleep instead.
