Lionel Messi, defying age at 36, orchestrated a masterful performance propelling Inter Miami to a resounding 2-0 victory over Real Salt Lake.

While Messi's illustrious career has been adorned with hundreds of breathtaking goals and mesmerizing runs, he unveiled yet another magical trick on Wednesday night.

In the 44th minute, with the game already in Inter Miami's favor, Messi showcased an unparalleled level of audacity. Cutting inside on his left foot, he spotted a Real Salt Lake player injured on the ground – Andrew Brody.

Rather than opting for a conventional play, Messi defied expectations, delicately chipping the ball over Brody's prone body with impeccable precision. The move, a blend of disrespect and brilliance, left spectators astounded.

While Messi's individual brilliance took the spotlight, the entire Inter Miami team displayed glimpses of their potential dominance throughout the 90 minutes.

Despite occasional signs of fatigue, attributed to a rigorous preseason globetrotting schedule, Messi and his teammates showcased moments of sheer brilliance, dominating at times and exhibiting tidy, dynamic play.

The match unfolded with a mix of superb soccer and occasional wastefulness, a testament to the team's imperfections yet undeniable excellence.

Messi, alongside sporting director Chris Henderson, has curated what many consider the best roster in MLS history. The preseason favorites, boasting a +200 odds, demonstrated their prowess, potentially cruising through the regular season akin to an NBA superteam.

The victory was not without its dramatic moments, with the first goal stemming from a goalkeeping mistake by Zac MacMath. Despite the fluky nature, both goals and the overall win were deemed well-deserved, underlining Inter Miami's quality.

As the spotlight returned to Fort Lauderdale, the atmosphere was electric. Luis Suarez's introduction to the crowd, fireworks, and celebrity presence, including Will Smith, added to the spectacle.

Messi, sharing a maté with Suarez and exchanging laughs and hugs with teammates like Jordi Alba, showcased not just his on-field brilliance but the camaraderie within the team.

In the inaugural game of what could be a 60-game season, Messi lived up to the expectations, delivering a performance that dazzled fans and set the stage for what promises to be an extraordinary MLS campaign for Inter Miami. (SOURCE: Yahoo Sports)
