Suspended Heat Center Thomas Bryant To Receive Championship Ring From Nuggets In Special Pregame Ceremony

The NBA has granted suspended Miami Heat center Thomas Bryant special permission to attend a pregame ceremony in Denver's arena and receive his championship ring from the Nuggets.

Bryant, who served as a backup during Denver's 2023-24 title-winning season, joined the Heat last summer via free agency.

Typically, suspended players are not allowed in the arena on game nights, but the NBA has made an exception for this unique situation.

Bryant is wrapping up a three-game suspension for his involvement in an altercation during a recent Heat game against New Orleans.

Given that Miami's visit to Denver is a one-time event this season, the league has allowed Bryant to be present for the ceremony and accept the ring earned during his tenure with the Nuggets, who defeated Miami in the 2022-23 NBA Finals. After the ceremony, Bryant will have to leave the arena.

Denver distributed its championship rings on October 24, just before the start of the season, adhering to the tradition of presenting rings to players no longer with the title-winning team during the first game against their former club. The rings boast 16 carats of diamonds, rubies, and sapphires, symbolizing the 16 playoff wins required to secure the championship.

Bryant, who appeared in 18 regular-season games and one playoff game with the Nuggets last season, began the season with the Los Angeles Lakers. His last game as a Laker coincided with LeBron James breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s NBA scoring record on February 7, 2023. Bryant was subsequently traded to Denver in a four-team deal just two days later. (Source: NBA)

During the bout, Gaethje landed heavy punches and kicks that Khabib admitted were painful. “He hit like a truck,” Khabib said on Mike Tyson ’s Hotboxin' podcast. “His left hook, right hook, uppercut—they all hurt. But I made him hit me because I knew he didn’t like wrestling. My plan was to tire him out by standing with him, then take him to the ground and finish the fight.” Photo: Khabib Nurmagomedov / Instagram Khabib ended the fight with a triangle choke submission. He explained he chose the move out of respect for Gaethje’s parents, who were watching. “I didn’t want to break his arm in front of his parents,” Khabib said. “So I put him to sleep instead.
