San Antonio Spurs' rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama found himself in hot water with the NBA, receiving a hefty $25,000 fine for an incident involving a basketball toss into the stands.

The NBA's decision came after Wembanyama's action of throwing the ball into the crowd during the game against the Knicks, marking a significant setback in the young player's burgeoning NBA career.

Notably, this isn't Wembanyama's first brush with disciplinary action, as he had previously incurred a $2,000 fine for a technical foul during an earlier match.

The altercation occurred during the Spurs' hard-fought 130-126 overtime victory over the Knicks.

With tensions running high and the clock winding down, Wembanyama found himself entangled in a dramatic moment, hugging the ball tightly before hurling it towards the home crowd, seemingly in an attempt to celebrate the team's triumph.

However, the gesture came under scrutiny, especially considering the stellar performance of the Knicks' Jalen Brunson, who notched an impressive 61 points in the game, despite his team ultimately falling short. Wembanyama, on the other hand, contributed significantly to the Spurs' victory with an impressive stat line of 40 points, 20 rebounds, and seven assists.

While the win marked a positive note for the struggling Spurs, who have been grappling with a less-than-ideal season, the league's swift action serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining professionalism on and off the court. Despite the setback, Wembanyama's talent and potential remain undeniable, and his journey in the NBA continues amidst lessons learned.
