The Los Angeles Clippers have locked in head coach Tyronn Lue for the long haul. The team announced on Wednesday that Lue has agreed to a five-year contract extension worth $70 million.

Lue, 47, was set to become a free agent after the 2024-25 season. With this new deal, he becomes one of the highest-paid coaches in the NBA. Recently, there were rumors that Lue was a top candidate for the Los Angeles Lakers' coaching job after Darvin Ham was fired.

If Lue had taken the Lakers job, he would have reunited with LeBron James, with whom he won the 2016 NBA Championship while coaching the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Lue will lead the Clippers as they move to their new home, the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, next season. The team could see significant changes this offseason, as both James Harden and Paul George might become free agents. George has a $48.7 million player option that he could choose to decline. The Philadelphia 76ers are reportedly interested in George if he decides to leave.

During his four years with the Clippers, Lue has a record of 184-134, making it the sixth-best in the league during that period. The Clippers have made the playoffs three out of four seasons with Lue, including a trip to the Western Conference finals in 2021. Last season, the Clippers finished fourth in the Western Conference with a 51-31 record but were eliminated in the first round by the Dallas Mavericks in six games.

During the bout, Gaethje landed heavy punches and kicks that Khabib admitted were painful. “He hit like a truck,” Khabib said on Mike Tyson ’s Hotboxin' podcast. “His left hook, right hook, uppercut—they all hurt. But I made him hit me because I knew he didn’t like wrestling. My plan was to tire him out by standing with him, then take him to the ground and finish the fight.” Photo: Khabib Nurmagomedov / Instagram Khabib ended the fight with a triangle choke submission. He explained he chose the move out of respect for Gaethje’s parents, who were watching. “I didn’t want to break his arm in front of his parents,” Khabib said. “So I put him to sleep instead.
