James "Buster" Douglas shocked the world in 1990 when he stopped Mike Tyson to become the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion. As a 37/1 underdog in Tokyo, Douglas survived a knockdown in the eighth round and delivered a TKO victory in the tenth, handing "Iron" Mike his first loss. However, Douglas lost the titles to Evander Holyfield in his next fight.
Today, Oleksandr Usyk is the reigning champion in the heavyweight division. The Ukrainian fighter recently defeated the previously undefeated Tyson Fury by points decision, adding the WBC belt to his collection, which already includes the IBF, WBA, and WBO belts won from Anthony Joshua.
Despite the dominance of Usyk, Fury, and Joshua, Douglas believes they wouldn't have fared well in his era. In an interview with Gambling Zone, he said, “I speak to my trainer about today’s heavyweights, and he has a low opinion of them. He says they [Fury and Joshua] wouldn’t have been in the top 30 in my era, and I have to agree. They have skills, but as far as endurance, I don’t know. They don’t seem to be able to withstand power and aggressiveness.”

When asked who would have the best chance against the ferocious Mike Tyson, Douglas named Usyk. “I would say Usyk would have had the best chance to beat Mike, then AJ, but Mike was a tough individual.”
Despite giving Joshua the second-best chance, Douglas suggested that Joshua would have been an easy fight for Tyson. “All of Mike’s opponents were easy for him until he fought me. Joshua is no different than anybody else, so yes, Joshua would have been an easy fight for Mike.”
Usyk and Fury are set for a rematch on December 21 this year, while Joshua is expected to return to the ring in September at Wembley Stadium, with his opponent to be announced soon.
