Paige VanZant celebrated her first combat sports victory since 2019 on Friday. The former UFC and BKFC fighter knocked down Christine Wolmarans twice to win her slap fighting debut at Power Slap 8 by unanimous decision.

VanZant, 30, delivered her knockdowns in the second and third rounds of the three-round match. Despite a flinching foul that gave Wolmarans a fourth slap attempt, VanZant dominated the match. All three judges scored it 30-25 in her favor.

“Honestly, it was absolutely incredible,” VanZant said. “Of course I wanted to knock her out with the first slap, but I’m so happy that it went the way that it did. I knew I could take a punch, I knew I could take a slap. That was really fun.”

Before this win, VanZant had struggled since her 2019 UFC victory over Rachael Ostovich. She lost her final UFC bout to Amanda Ribas and then dropped two bare-knuckle boxing matches against Britain Hart and Ostovich. Recently, she fought to a split draw in an influencer boxing match against Elle Brooke.

VanZant is excited about her return to winning and hinted that she plans to continue with slap fighting. “This is too much fun to walk away from,” she said.

During the bout, Gaethje landed heavy punches and kicks that Khabib admitted were painful. “He hit like a truck,” Khabib said on Mike Tyson ’s Hotboxin' podcast. “His left hook, right hook, uppercut—they all hurt. But I made him hit me because I knew he didn’t like wrestling. My plan was to tire him out by standing with him, then take him to the ground and finish the fight.” Photo: Khabib Nurmagomedov / Instagram Khabib ended the fight with a triangle choke submission. He explained he chose the move out of respect for Gaethje’s parents, who were watching. “I didn’t want to break his arm in front of his parents,” Khabib said. “So I put him to sleep instead. That’s better.” D...
