Shohei Ohtani Breaks Dodger Stadium Record With Huge Home Run

Shohei Ohtani shined bright in the Los Angeles Dodgers' win over the Kansas City Royals on Sunday. He hit two home runs, one of which was a massive 451-foot shot to left-center field.

Ohtani's first homer came in the third inning, putting the Dodgers ahead 1-0. The ball flew with a launch angle of 27 degrees and an exit speed of 114.3 miles per hour.

This 451-foot blast was Ohtani's second homer of 450 feet or more at Dodger Stadium this season. According to MLB.com's Sarah Langs, he's the first player to do this since the Statcast Era began in 2015.

In 2024, Ohtani now has three homers over 450 feet. The Dodgers' record for a season is held by Joc Pederson, who hit four in 2015. With more than three months left in the season, Ohtani has a good chance to tie or break that record.

Ohtani's second home run came in the sixth inning, a 400-foot solo shot to right, doubling the Dodgers' lead. Freddie Freeman followed with another homer, giving the Dodgers a 3-0 lead. The Royals couldn't score, and the Dodgers won, improving their record to 44-29.

Ohtani is a top contender for the NL MVP. Since signing a 10-year, $700 million contract with the Dodgers in December, he has been outstanding. The 29-year-old is batting .308 with 19 home runs, 46 RBIs, 15 stolen bases, a .976 OPS, and a 3.5 WAR. He leads the National League with 53 runs and 165 total bases.

Photo: Khabib Nurmagomedov / Instagram Khabib Nurmagomedov , one of the greatest fighters in UFC history, has faced many tough opponents. But when it comes to punching power, he says no one hit harder than Justin Gaethje . The two fought at UFC 254 on October 24, 2020. It was Khabib’s last fight before retiring. During the bout, Gaethje landed heavy punches and kicks that Khabib admitted were painful. “He hit like a truck,” Khabib said on Mike Tyson ’s Hotboxin' podcast. “His left hook, right hook, uppercut—they all hurt. But I made him hit me because I knew he didn’t like wrestling. My plan was to tire him out by standing with him, then take him to the ground and finish the fight.” Photo: Khabib Nurmagomedov / Instagram Khabib ended the fight with a triangle choke submission. He explained he chose the move out of respect for Gaethje’s parents, who were watching. “I didn’t want to break his arm in front of his parents,” Khabib said. “So I put him to sleep instead.
