Daniel Dubois Shocks Anthony Joshua With Knockout To Keep World Title

In a surprising result, Daniel Dubois knocked out Anthony Joshua in the fifth round on Saturday to stay the IBF world heavyweight champion. The fight took place at Wembley Stadium in front of a record crowd of 96,000.

Joshua, who was hoping to win the world title for the third time, started strong. However, Dubois gained control and delivered a powerful right punch to Joshua's chin in the fifth round, ending the fight just 59 seconds into the round.

This upset was unexpected, as Joshua had won his last four fights, including a knockout victory over Francis Ngannou in March. Many thought Joshua would win and get a chance to fight the winner of the Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk rematch in December.

Joshua, now 34, has lost four times in 32 fights. He has a rematch clause and is expected to ask for a second fight. He could also fight the loser of Fury and Usyk’s rematch.

After the fight, Joshua said, "Credit to him and his team. We tried, but it wasn’t enough. I made a lot of mistakes, but that’s how it goes."


Dubois, who is 27, is now in line for a possible fight to become the undisputed world heavyweight champion. After the match, Dubois said, "I’m a fighter and I want to reach my full potential. This is my time."

This victory is the biggest of Dubois’ career and could lead to more big fights in the future.
