Trump Says He Won't Run Again if He Loses Election

Former President Donald Trump has said he likely won’t run again in 2028 if he loses the upcoming presidential election in November.

Trump, who is 78 years old, has run in three national elections and has played a major role in shaping the Republican Party over the past eight years.

In an interview with Sinclair Media Group, Trump was asked if he would run again if he loses to Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris. He replied, “No, I don’t. I think… that will be it. I don’t see that at all.” However, he added, "Hopefully, we’re going to be very successful."

U.S. law doesn’t allow presidents to serve more than two terms, so Trump wouldn’t run in 2028 even if he wins this year.

In the past, Trump has rarely talked about losing. He usually energizes his supporters with promises of victory. But recently, he has mentioned the possibility of defeat twice in four days.

At an event for the Israeli-American Council, Trump suggested that losing could partly be due to Jewish voters. His comments were criticized by the Harris campaign, as well as groups like the American Jewish Committee and the Anti-Defamation League.

Trump’s remarks come as Harris’s campaign seems to be gaining momentum. Her team raised more money than Trump’s in August, and recent polls show her slightly ahead of him both nationally and in key battleground states.

The Trump campaign has not yet commented on the latest polling data.
