Adidas Ends Dispute With Kanye West Over Antisemitic Comments

Adidas has officially ended its conflict with Kanye West following his antisemitic comments in 2022, which led to the end of their popular "Yeezy" collaboration. Adidas stopped selling Yeezy products at the time and began selling off remaining stock.

On Tuesday, Adidas announced a settlement with West, bringing an end to all legal issues. Adidas CEO Bjorn Gulden explained that there are no remaining disagreements or payments between the two sides. He emphasized that both parties decided not to continue their fight, saying, "There were tensions on many issues…but both parties said we don't need to fight anymore."

According to Gulden, the situation with West is "in the past," and no further issues remain. Adidas has been gradually selling Yeezy items in batches, with plans to finish by the end of 2024. Part of the proceeds from these sales will go to charities, including Adidas' own anti-discrimination foundation.

The decision to move forward marks a big shift from Adidas' 2022 stance, when the company condemned West's comments, saying they violated its values of diversity and inclusion. Adidas and West originally teamed up in 2014, creating a highly successful line, with Yeezy products continuing to perform well on resale markets even after the controversy.

West’s antisemitic comments led to his suspension on social media platforms and sparked widespread backlash. In December 2022, he made further controversial statements on a podcast hosted by conspiracy theorist Alex Jones.

While West has spoken openly about his struggles with bipolar disorder, the impact of his comments has changed his relationship with Adidas permanently. Source: BBC

He explained he chose the move out of respect for Gaethje’s parents, who were watching. “I didn’t want to break his arm in front of his parents,” Khabib said. “So I put him to sleep instead.
