Chael Sonnen Says Pro Boxers Calling Out Jake Paul ‘Should Be Ashamed’

Chael Sonnen, former UFC fighter and current analyst, thinks professional boxers now challenging Jake Paul are only interested in his fame and success. Sonnen shared his thoughts on his YouTube channel, saying these fighters had no interest in Paul when he first started boxing.

Jake Paul, who began his career fighting fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib and retired NBA player Nate Robinson, has since taken on aging MMA stars like Anderson Silva and Tyron Woodley. Recently, Paul defeated 58-year-old Mike Tyson in a highly watched match, boosting his popularity even further.

Sonnen criticized boxers now calling Paul out, saying they didn’t want to fight him before he became a star. “These boxers who suddenly found their courage should be ashamed,” Sonnen said. “They didn’t want to fight him when he was starting out. Why now, when they know he’s good?”

Paul’s record is now 11-1, but critics argue he hasn’t faced serious boxing competition yet. Most of his wins are against MMA fighters or low-level boxers. Sonnen suggested a tournament to determine Paul’s next opponent, comparing it to The Ultimate Fighter, a reality show that helped launch the UFC into success.

“Let’s do a tournament,” Sonnen proposed. “Big names like Carl Froch, Antonio Tarver, and Ryan Garcia have shown interest. Let them fight for the chance to face Jake Paul. The prize isn’t money—it’s the opportunity they claim to want.”

Sonnen suggested Paul’s promotion company, Most Valuable Promotions, could organize the event, making Jake Paul the ultimate prize. Whether the idea gains traction remains to be seen, but it’s clear that Paul’s rise has stirred the combat sports world. Source

During the bout, Gaethje landed heavy punches and kicks that Khabib admitted were painful. “He hit like a truck,” Khabib said on Mike Tyson ’s Hotboxin' podcast. “His left hook, right hook, uppercut—they all hurt. But I made him hit me because I knew he didn’t like wrestling. My plan was to tire him out by standing with him, then take him to the ground and finish the fight.” Photo: Khabib Nurmagomedov / Instagram Khabib ended the fight with a triangle choke submission.
