Floyd Mayweather Laughs Off Jake Paul's Dream of Fighting Canelo Alvarez

Jake Paul has big plans, but Floyd Mayweather isn’t buying it. The boxing legend thinks Paul has no chance against Canelo Alvarez, one of the sport’s greatest fighters.

Paul, fresh from a win over Mike Tyson 10 days ago, has set his sights on Alvarez. The YouTuber-turned-boxer now holds an 11-1 record and is aiming high. Alvarez, however, is the reigning super middleweight champion with 62 wins and is widely considered one of the best fighters in the world.

When TMZ Sports asked Mayweather about Paul’s chances, he didn’t hold back. “He’d get destroyed by Canelo,” Mayweather said. “There’s no way he’d win.”

Mayweather, who beat Alvarez in 2013, knows what it takes to compete at the highest level. He’s also familiar with Jake Paul, whose brother Logan Paul faced Mayweather in a 2021 exhibition match. While Jake has made waves in the boxing world, Mayweather thinks he’s not ready for the big leagues.

“He’s doing well for himself, but if he fights a real fighter, it’ll go bad,” Mayweather added.

Interestingly, Canelo hasn’t completely ruled out fighting Paul someday—just not anytime soon. For now, Alvarez is focused on maintaining his legacy.

Jake Paul has a knack for staying in the spotlight, whether people love or hate him. But stepping into the ring with Canelo Alvarez might be a step too far. Source
