Hitman Developer Cuts Ties With Conor McGregor After Court Ruling

IO Interactive, the team behind the popular Hitman games, has announced it will stop selling all Conor McGregor-related content. This decision comes after McGregor was ordered to pay €248,000 (about $260,500) in damages in a civil rape case. The ruling, made in Dublin’s High Court, saw the woman’s claim upheld, though McGregor plans to appeal.

McGregor appeared in Hitman: World of Assassination in the Elusive Target mission The Disruptor. This mission included McGregor’s voice and likeness. 

It was available for free earlier this month and included a $5 DLC pack with bonus items. IO Interactive has now stopped selling this DLC and has removed promotional material for the collaboration.

In a statement released on November 25, IO Interactive said:

"In light of the recent court ruling regarding Conor McGregor, IO Interactive has made the decision to cease its collaboration with the athlete, effective immediately. We take this matter very seriously and cannot ignore its implications.

Consequently, we will begin removing all content featuring Mr. McGregor from our storefronts starting today."

However, the company has not said whether existing players will lose access to the content they already own.

IO Interactive is now focusing on its next big project: a James Bond game, which it hopes will lead to a new trilogy. Source
