Taiwan’s Olympic boxing champion Lin Yu-ting has withdrawn from a major boxing competition in Britain after organizers questioned her gender eligibility, Taiwan’s sports officials said on Wednesday.
Lin, who won a gold medal at the Paris Olympics, was set to compete in the World Boxing Cup Finals in Sheffield. This event, organized by World Boxing, was her first international appearance since her victory in Paris.
However, World Boxing raised concerns about her eligibility. In response, Taiwan’s Sports Administration stated that Lin is female, meets all criteria, and competed fairly in Paris. They criticized World Boxing for lacking clear policies and confidentiality safeguards for athletes.

Lin had offered to undergo medical checks in Britain, but World Boxing did not accept this. To avoid further stress, her coach and officials decided to pull her out of the competition.
Lin was previously involved in a similar issue at the world championships last year, where she and Algerian boxer Imane Khelif were barred from competing by the International Boxing Association (IBA). Despite this, both were cleared by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for the Paris Games.
Taiwan’s government has promised to support Lin and ensure her rights are protected in future events. Source
