Caitlin Clark Joins $100M Bid To Bring Soccer Team To Cincinnati

Caitlin Clark, one of the WNBA’s brightest stars, is making big moves off the court. The 22-year-old Indiana Fever guard has joined an ownership group bidding to bring a National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) team to Cincinnati. The expansion fee alone is expected to cost around $100 million.

The group is co-led by Jeff Berding, co-CEO of Major League Soccer's FC Cincinnati. Berding revealed that Clark decided to go public with her involvement in the project, a decision she made on her own.

“It was Caitlin’s desire to go public,” Berding told The Athletic. “She’s very proud to be a part of this effort, and she’s very competitive. She wants to win and see this happen.”

Clark’s team isn’t guaranteed the bid, as groups from Cleveland, Philadelphia, and Denver are also competing for an NWSL team. However, having a star like Clark backing Cincinnati could give them a big advantage.

While she continues her basketball career in Indianapolis, just 100 miles from Cincinnati, Clark plans to stay actively involved in the soccer project. “She’s going to have a great opportunity to be involved in a meaningful way,” Berding added.

If the bid succeeds, it would mark another milestone in Clark’s already impressive career as an athlete and now as an investor. Source
