Deontay Wilder Could Fight Boxing Legend In 2025 Comeback

Deontay Wilder, the former heavyweight world champion, might step back into the ring in 2025, and the opponent could be a retired legend, Wladimir Klitschko. Wilder's trainer, Malik Scott, recently hinted at a major comeback for the fighter, calling 2025 "a big year" for the heavyweight.

Wilder, now 39, hasn’t fought since suffering two tough losses in Saudi Arabia. He lost on points to Joseph Parker and was stopped in five rounds by Zhilei Zhang. These performances led to questions about whether Wilder should retire, but the hard-hitting boxer has confirmed he will continue fighting.

Scott believes Wilder’s fighting spirit remains strong. "Deontay is a fighter at heart," Scott told Jeff Bet. "I believe 2025 will be the perfect year for him to come back, but everything has to be right for him."

Rumors are swirling about Wladimir Klitschko’s possible return to boxing. Klitschko, who retired after losing to Anthony Joshua in 2017, has been linked to a comeback fight against IBF champion Daniel Dubois. There’s also talk of a rematch with Tyson Fury if Fury defeats Oleksandr Usyk this month.

Scott suggested a fight between Wilder and Klitschko would be historic. “Wladimir Klitschko is a legend. If he returns, a fight with Deontay Wilder would be one of the biggest heavyweight fights of all time,” he said. “But I’d be very surprised if Klitschko comes back. Fighters like him, when they’re done, they’re done.”

Klitschko has previously expressed interest in breaking George Foreman’s record as the oldest heavyweight champion, but no official plans have been announced. If he does return, a clash with Wilder would undoubtedly grab global attention. Source
