Linkin Park’s new guitarist Alex Feder has explained why Brad Delson decided to retire from playing live shows.
In a new interview with Andertons Music Co., Feder said that touring is a “very, very specific lifestyle” that not every musician enjoys.
He noted that constant travel, jet lag, and being away from family can take a toll, even for someone in a band as big as Linkin Park.
Feder added that playing in front of 80,000 fans can feel overwhelming if a person doesn’t enjoy being on stage.
While Delson no longer tours, he has not left the band and still works on new music and production behind the scenes.
Feder said Delson now focuses on writing, executive producing, and helping with creative planning.
Rob Bourdon, however, chose to step away from the band entirely and will not be part of Linkin Park’s return.
Fans are excited for the comeback, and Feder has stepped in to handle live guitar duties as the band starts a new chapter.
