Former FOREIGNER singer Lou Gramm shared that after his brain surgery nearly 30 years ago, he couldn’t remember the words to the band’s classic songs.
Gramm was diagnosed with a brain tumor called a craniopharyngioma and underwent a 19-hour surgery that damaged his pituitary gland.
The operation caused major health issues, including weight gain and memory loss.
Lou said that during his early shows after surgery, he had to tape the song lyrics in a semicircle around his mic stand to help him remember.
His doctors told him not to tour for at least a year, but the band’s manager pushed him to perform only two months later.
Despite the struggles, Gramm slowly recovered and returned to performing.
He later wrote about his experience in his book Juke Box Hero: My Five Decades In Rock ’N’ Roll.
Lou is set to rejoin FOREIGNER onstage for select shows, performing the band’s biggest hits once again.
