Linkin Park became part of the Transformers movie franchise with one of their biggest songs, What I've Done.
In 2007, the band was changing their sound for their third album, Minutes to Midnight, moving away from the style that made them famous.
The song was the last one they wrote for the album and was made under pressure, but it came together quickly.
Michael Bay, director of Transformers, invited them to be part of the soundtrack, and some band members realized it was a huge opportunity.
The track was used in the movie’s finale, accompanying Optimus Prime’s speech, and matched the film’s emotional tone.
Two years later, the band made New Divide for the second film under tight deadlines, working closely with the movie’s composer.
For the third film, Iridescent from their 2010 album A Thousand Suns was included, chosen because fans loved it live.
The collaboration started with childhood excitement over Transformers and grew into one of Linkin Park’s most iconic movie connections.
