Casper Ruud displayed an outstanding performance at Roland Garros on Friday, securing his place in the final by defeating Alexander Zverev with a commanding 6-3, 6-4, 6-0 victory.
This marks Ruud's third championship match in the last five Grand Slam events, a remarkable achievement. The Norwegian's trademark clean baseline hitting overwhelmed Zverev, and he sealed his triumph on Court Philippe-Chatrier after a two-hour and nine-minute battle.
Ruud approached the match with a calm and focused mindset, aiming to play without pressure or excessive emotions. Ruud's success came as everything seemed to fall into place during the match, with each point going his way.

He converted six of the ten break points he earned, showcasing his determination to claim victory. In the upcoming championship match on Sunday, Ruud will face two-time champion Novak Djokovic, as the Norwegian seeks to clinch his first major title.
Despite his modest 16-11 record for the year, Ruud has displayed a resurgence, winning the ATP Tour title in Estoril and reaching the semi-finals of an ATP Masters 1000 event in Rome. His impressive performance in Paris has only further solidified his return to form.
Reflecting on his journey to the final, Ruud admitted that he didn't consider himself a favorite at Roland Garros. Instead, he focused on taking one match at a time, allowing his progress to unfold naturally.
Nonetheless, he expressed his desire to return to the final, aiming to defend his previous year's success. Ruud's recent surge in the Pepperstone ATP Live Race To Turin rankings has elevated him to eighth place, as he aims to secure his spot in the Nitto ATP Finals for the third consecutive time.
Ruud's relentless determination and focus were evident in his match against Zverev. He made a mere 19 unforced errors throughout the three sets, compared to Zverev's 37.
Ruud's powerful forehand played a significant role, contributing to his tally of 25 winners. Despite an early break from Zverev, Ruud quickly responded and maintained control, not allowing his opponent to break his serve again.
The Norwegian secured the second set with a break in the seventh game and cruised through the third set, ultimately sealing his victory.
Zverev, disappointed by his performance, acknowledged the disparity between his level of play and the previous matches. Falling at the semi-final stage for the third consecutive year at Roland Garros, he credited Ruud for playing well and accepted his own below-average performance.
