Israel Adesanya Apologizes To Olympic Boxer Imane Khelif

Israel Adesanya, a famous UFC fighter, has publicly apologized to Algerian boxer Imane Khelif for comments he made about her. Adesanya had wrongly assumed that Khelif was a transgender woman after hearing about her recent Olympic win in Paris.

Khelif has faced controversy over her gender identity, especially after she and another boxer were disqualified last year for not meeting certain gender criteria. However, both were later cleared to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Adesanya had tweeted about the situation, saying, "Men should not be boxing women," but later realized he was mistaken. He apologized, saying, "I got it wrong... I didn’t understand what was going on."

Khelif will compete in the Olympic final on August 9, aiming for a gold medal.

Meanwhile, Adesanya is focused on his own upcoming fight. He will face Dricus du Plessis at UFC 305 on August 17, hoping to regain his middleweight title.

Adesanya is determined to prove himself after his recent loss and show that he’s still one of the best fighters in the sport.
