Franz Ferdinand Covers Chappell Roan’s ‘Good Luck, Babe’ On BBC Radio 2

Franz Ferdinand performed a lively cover of Chappell Roan’s hit song Good Luck, Babe during Jo Whiley’s BBC Radio 2 show on November 27. The track, from Roan’s 2023 album The Rise And Fall Of A Midwest Princess, has been nominated for multiple Grammy Awards.

Before playing the song, Franz Ferdinand’s frontman Alex Kapranos praised Roan, saying, “It’s just an amazing song by an incredible artist. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love her music. This song’s incredible, so we’re going to play it.” The band added their signature indie style to the pop track during the performance.

Franz Ferdinand is gearing up to release their new album, The Human Fear, on January 10, 2025, through Domino. The album, produced by Mark Ralph, includes 11 songs that explore human fears and how overcoming them shapes us. Kapranos described the record as unmistakably Franz Ferdinand but with surprising elements.

So far, the band has released two singles from the album, Night Or Day and Audacious. A short run of in-store shows and a UK/European tour will follow the album’s release.


Meanwhile, Chappell Roan continues to make waves, earning Grammy nominations in four major categories for 2025, including Album of the Year for The Rise And Fall Of A Midwest Princess and Record of the Year for Good Luck, Babe.
