KISS legend Ace Frehley once said he wanted to be remembered as “a straight shooter and a guy who stayed true to his craft.”
In a talk with journalist Chaunce Hayden, Ace said he hoped people would see him as someone who made others happy and stayed real.
He shared that fans often told him his recovery story inspired them to stay clean, which made him proud.
The full interview will appear in Hayden’s book Music: 30 Years Of Interviews, due out in January 2026.
He co-founded KISS in 1973 and played on their first nine albums, earning a Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction in 2014.
Though he left KISS more than once, Ace said he always respected his bandmates despite their past fights.
Before his passing, he said he wanted his legacy to be about truth, music, and love for his fans.
