Deftones frontman Chino Moreno has called the band’s 1997 album Around The Fur “one of my favourites – if not my favourite record – of ours.”
In a new interview with Revolver, he said making the LP felt like “catching lightning in a bottle.”
Moreno recalled that the album was written and recorded quickly at Studio Litho in Seattle, owned by Pearl Jam’s Stone Gossard.
He said the process gave the record a raw, natural energy that still stands the test of time. Moreno also compared it to their new album Private Music, which was made in different studios.
The singer said he now enjoys recording in varied places, even drawing inspiration from spots like Malibu’s Zuma Beach.
Around The Fur includes hits like “My Own Summer (Shove It)” and “Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away).”
Deftones will tour the UK and Europe next year, including a show at London’s O2 Arena.
