Paramore singer Hayley Williams has directly called out country star Morgan Wallen in a new interview on the New York Times’ "Popcast."
She was asked about her song “Ego Death,” which mentions “the biggest star at this racist country singer’s bar.”
Williams confirmed she was referring to Wallen and said, “I don’t give a shit. Find me at Whole Foods, bitch, I don’t care.”
She explained that she speaks out on racial issues because they connect to many other struggles, including climate change and LGBTQ+ rights.
Wallen was at the center of controversy in 2021 when he was caught on video using the N-word outside his Nashville home.
After the video was published, he was banned from major country radio networks, pulled from streaming playlists, suspended by his label, and ruled ineligible for major awards.
Wallen later apologized, calling his words “unacceptable and inappropriate,” and admitted there was no excuse for his actions.
Williams’ comments come as she continues to use her platform to address social issues while also balancing Paramore, her solo projects, and touring with Taylor Swift.
