In a new interview with Colombia’s Alejandrosis, CELTIC FROST frontman Tom Gabriel Fischer, also known as Tom Warrior, called the band’s 1988 album Cold Lake the worst record of his 44 years as a musician.
Fischer said the album was meant to be more “positive and melodic,” but ended up being a huge artistic mistake.
He admitted it had bad production, weak songwriting, and poor lyrics.
The record was made with a producer who didn’t fit CELTIC FROST’s style.
Fischer added that the failure taught him to be more critical and helped him grow as a musician.
He first called the album “a complete failure” in a 2020 interview, saying it was an experiment gone wrong.
CELTIC FROST later reformed in 2001 and released Monotheist in 2006 before splitting up again in 2008.
Fischer now leads TRIPTYKON, which has released several albums since forming in 2008.
